Asus has revamped the ZenBook line with a whole new design - we check out IFA 2018, like the new lighter develop, redesigned hinge, and light-up numpad that's truly constructed into the touch pad.
The newest version of the Asus ZenBook only came out inside the UK this summer time, however the Toshiba L850D 100 Akku
business is not wasting any time receiving an updated version out, using IFA 2018 to unveil an enormous redesign for the entire ZenBook line.
This year's previous ZenBook 13 model started from £999/$999, so we'd count on to find out comparable pricing in the new line - naturally with far more high priced beginning points for the bigger screen sizes. The ZenBook line has had a huge style overhaul considering the fact that the Microsoft Surface Pro 1 Akku/1514 1601 P21GU9 Akku
models that have been unveiled at CES earlier in 2018, plus the ZenBook 14 now attributes smaller sized bezels, a new hinge, and also a more premium finish than any prior ZenBook.
From the laptop's shimmering, dark-blue paint job to its premium components, the ZenBook 14 is amongst the Asus lowered the ZenBook 14's footprint to concerning the size of a common A4 sheet of paper by trimming down the display bezels to two.9 millimeters. The result is really a screen-to-body ratio of 92 percent, that is a lot more impressive than the standard-setting XPS 13 (80.7 percent).sleekest devices I've tested, but it's the laptop's impossibly small size that seriously had me floored.
The UX433 utilizes exactly the same AU Optronics B140HAN03.2 IPS panel as identified on final year's Acer Swift 5 SF514 and Acer Spin 7 SP714. Consequently, our Zenbook shares the numerous of your similar display characteristics as these 14-inch Acer laptops. Contrast is great at over 1000:1 and colors are deep with crisp text and Lenovo 3460 Akku
no graininess challenges. A lighter matte panel SKU is planned, but there are going to be no touchscreen or 4K UHD alternatives across all SKUs. This can be a premium quality panel that appears even superior because of the narrow bezels.
The ZenBook 14 adopts the clever ErgoLift hinge we've seen on other ZenBook laptops released this year. Once you open the laptop's lid, the back of the ZenBook 14's chassis lifts off the ground a number of millimeters, which angles the keyboard downward three degrees. The KDL48W705C Netzteil
raised keyboard is designed to provide a extra comfy typing knowledge, optimize cooling and increase audio high quality. In general, I discovered every of those claims to be accurate, although the rewards are minor.
In fairness, even so, the angled rear lid is just not new as it also can be found on the older HP Pavilion 15 Energy. In addition, Asus managed to create the bottom bezel appear narrower than it actually is by hiding a big portion of it behind the Acer AS10D31 Akku
base when the lid is opened. Our screenshot below shows why Asus could not have utilised frequent hinges for this distinct design and style since it would have exposed additional of the bottom bezel. It is a clever strategy due to the fact customers see a bottom bezel that is just 3.three mm thick when the lid is opened.
The program still weighs regarding the very same as several of its competitors due to the fact it can be slightly thicker (15.9 mm) than the XPS 13 (11.six mm), MacBook Air (15.six mm), and Yoga C930 (14.9 mm). In other words, the UX433 has certainly one of the smallest footprints for its size class even though it is not necessarily the thinnest.
We've noticed it on the ZenBook S line previously, and it is a program created to lift-up the laptop or computer around the back of its screen, as a result building a slightly inclined typing position and added space underneath, for enhanced airflow. The downsides would be the truth that the laptop no longer rests on its four rubber feet placed on the underbelly, but MagSafe2 ChargeMQD32DK Charger
on two of those and two additional tiny feet placed at the bottom of the screen, too because the reality that the show is only in a position to lean back to about 150 degrees. Of course, we could also contemplate the long term-reliability of this mechanism, but there is no approach to tell how will it age and if it is going to become loose or unstable with time. As it is suitable now, it appears nicely created and trusted, and Asus mentions that the laptop is MIL-STD-810G military standard compliant, for what that is worth.
None of this indicates the Asus ZenBook 14 is definitely an exclusively Excel-only affair. Anybody clumsy adequate to drop the ZenBook from waist-height onto a solid wooden floor - anything we accidentally did throughout our trial - might be delighted to know that Z460 Akku/Lenovo IdeaPad Z460 Akku
the ZenBook came by way of with no sign of damage. We should not be as well surprised, thinking of Asus subjected this ultra-portable to military-grade torture tests.
The ZenBook line has had a huge style overhaul more than much less than 12 months, and the ZenBook 14 now characteristics smaller bezels, a brand new hinge, along with a a lot more compact create than any prior ZenBook.
Thanks for the new bezels as well as other style tweaks this is a seriously little laptop, having a 92 percent screen-to-body ratio along with a create that's smaller than most 13in laptops, let alone rival 14in models, measuring 31.9x19.9x1.59cm. It's fairly light also, weighing just 1.19kg with the regular screen.
All 3 on the new ZenBook models now feature Asus's 'ErgoLift hinge', which is a fancy name to get a straightforward hook style that assists lift the Fujitsu A530 Netzteil
back on the laptop up as you open it. That both puts the keyboard at a (very slightly) more comfortable angle for typing and handily improves each cooling and audio performance in accordance with the business. It then serves as a full numpad, excellent inside calculator or spreadsheet apps, letting you speedily tap out sums as essential. Activating it requires a long enough hold that you're unlikely to do it by accident, and typing on it's fast and quick - though naturally lacks any sort of tactile feedback.
The screen is usually a incredibly crisp Full HD panel which goes from super-bright bright to usefully-dim if you are inside a dark small business class cabin.
Our review till came with R510AA01DE/Samsung R510 Battery
an optional anti-glare matte display which doesn't offer one of the most eye-popping colours in comparison to the regular screen but has far much less reflections whether or not you happen to be working indoors or out.
A proper-sized touchpad sits beneath the keyboard, centered around the chassis, albeit it's shorter than on the older Zenbook UX430s, as a consequence of the reduced sized from the new generation. It's both visually and physically indented from the palm-rest around, and MS011301/Microsoft MS011301 Akku
it really is a glass-made Synaptics surface with Precision drivers, hence it comes to no surprise that it's a solid performer, handling swipes, gestures and taps well. There's also extremely small to complain regarding the physical clicks, which are smooth and quiet.
For the panel Asus went having a mid-range selection, an AU Optronics B140HAN03.two we've seen on other 14-inch laptops previously. It really is pretty vibrant, at about 300 nits, but Apple AirPort Extreme Netzteil
not as vibrant because the alternatives on the Dell XPS 13 or the HP Spectre, as an example, and arguably bright enough for outdoor or strong-light use. Contrast and colors are also fairly great, but calibration is pretty poor out the box, with skewed gamma, White Point and gray levels, so you are going to desire to use this color-profile to address those, or far better but calibrated the monitor yourselves. Our sample also suffered from some really serious brightness variation towards the corners, even when light-bleeding was not noticeable with the naked eye.
The Precision trackpad (10.5 x six.2 cm) is really narrower than the trackpad on the final generation UX430 (ten.five x 7.5 cm). Nonetheless, glide is smooth and responsive with no sticking when moving at slow speeds.
The integrated click keys are soft and shallow with quiet clatter as a result of their spongy press. The clickpad the job completed if an external mouse just isn't accessible, but Dell 9570 Netzteil/Dell XPS 9570 Netzteil
we obtain it less difficult to simply tap around the surface to input a click rather. The trackpad around the competing MateBook X Pro does a substantially improved job within this regard.
Back towards the UX433FN variant with committed MX150 Max-Q graphics, I'd advise you to additional look into how it truly performs with games, after it becomes available. If it does execute properly, then it really is going to become a competitive provide, but this niche incorporates several other possibilities you ought to at least verify out, just like the Acer Swift three SF314-55G, the Huawei MateBook X Pro, the HP Envy 13 or the Asus ZenBook UX331FN, butHP Spectre x360 Charger
also the additional highly effective MSI Prestige P42 and Lenovo IdeaPad 720s bundled with all the full-power variant from the MX150 graphics chip. It's a tough selection in between all these, as every have their share of powerful points and quirks, but we'ere here to help.
Anyway, that's about it for our overview of the Asus ZenBook UX433 FN series, but the comments section beneath is open for your feedback and Bose Soundtouch II Akku
questions, and look additional for updates inside the weeks to come as we hopefully get to test a final version on the UX433FN series.
I have a Toshiba Satellite P55-A5312. I've had it since November 2013 and it's been working fine for me. It runs Windows 8.1.
Yesterday, the computer said it needed to reset to install updates. So I did that. Ever since then, the sound hasn't worked, either the speakers or the headphone jack (both worked yesterday before the Update). The only other thing that is different is that the function keys are now function keys again. Before the update, I had to hold the fn key for them to actually operate as function keys, otherwise they did things like control volume and brightness. Now, that's reversed, they are normally function keys and I have to hold the fn key to access volume and brightness. I don't care about this change one way or the other, just including it here for completeness.
Now on to what I've done to diagnose. The speaker icon in the system tray has a red x in it. If you hover the mouse cursor over it, it says "audio service not running." I click on it and it brings up a troubleshooting window that doesn't actually ever fully open.
I go to Control Panel/Sound and it says Windows Audio Service is not enabled and asks me if I want to turn it on. I click yes and it brings up a sound window. The only option is speakers. I click on that and click the configure button and it brings up the Speaker Setup window. I hit the test button here and I get a "failed to play test tone" dialog box. I get the "select full-range speakers" screen and select front left and right. I hit next and I get a "configuration complete" window and I hit finish. But it still won't play test tones (or anything else).
I select Properties and hit properties again for the controller information and it says that the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC is working properly. Under device usage, the selection is "Use this device (enable).
Since the operation of the function keys is different, I assume that Toshiba installed some bloatware to change it's operation and the Update killed it. It's also possible that Toshiba used special drivers for the audio that the Update also killed. But I don't have the slightest clue how to check that and Toshiba support sucks.
