Setting up a new rig, need advice

Hi pilots, I know this is a long one, but I'm looking for advice before spending hundreds on software add-ons for FSX. I've been flying FS for 30 years now, but haven't kept up with the last couple of years' worth of add-on software.
I just built my sim dream machine for FSX and iRacing. It's time to fill up the SSDs, and I'm looking for some help in finalizing the add-ons. Yes, I read the guide on the sidebar, pored over various similar messages, etc. but I still need confirmation from you guys before I pull the trigger.
The PC is higher-end, 4790K (4.5GHz), Corsair H100i cooler, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD for FSX, Nvidia 780 GTX Ti 3GB, 3x 27" Samsung 1080P, Corsair 1000w PSU, etc.
I will mainly be flying short-haul commercial jets (PMDG 737), but will move up to the 777 in the near future. Also looking to get the A2A Piper, since that's what I learned to fly IRL. That means I'll be doing both high-altitude flyovers and low-altitude scenery.
Here's where I get confused. There's so much overlap in the descriptions of various products, I'm not sure what's what, and I don't want to get redundant.
Please read my ramblings and make recommendations on these add-ons: yes/no, get this instead, you don't need that with that, whatever would create the best flying environment.
  • REX 4 Texture Direct
  • ActiveSky Next
  • GSX Ground services
Those 3 seem to be a given - and here's where I start to get confused. Scenery-wise, I hear great things about ORBX, but not sure which specific package I need (FTX Global and what else)? Also, I live and will be flying mostly in the Northern US Rockies (Montana), and it's important that I have as realistic, matching scenery as possible. I hate flying over a known landmark and seeing a generic texture.
That's one reason MegaScenery Earth impresses me - however, I don't always read good things about it. Would it be best for "up-high" flying? Or, should I get the local regions for FTX? Can I use both? Are they even the same type of product? Argh.
FSPassengers, oh how I loved your chatty flight attendants and their stupid comments. Too bad you're not being updated anymore. I wonder if it's worth getting anyway? Are there any other options for cockpit/flight immersion like that?
AI Traffic is another one - what's going to give me realistic traffic skies with decent models?
This is getting too long; I'll stop here - anything I'm missing, feel free to chime in.
EDIT: Another old package that I loved was Radar Contact 4 - is this still a good one to get? Any other ATC packages worth trying out?

Introducing Myself

Hi All,
I just thought I'd write a quick introduction post. If this sort of thing is frowned upon here, please feel free to moderate appropriately :)
I'm just getting back into FSX after several years away. I'm totally blind, and have been since birth, but there's an excellent add-on called Itsyourplane, which enables me to fly many aircraft using voice commands.
It isn't quite the same as piloting myself, and obviously I miss out on most of the lovely scenery, but I was able to fly from KBFI -> kBDN yesterday by voice alone.
I used to have quite a collection of add-ons, being partial to Radar Contact and AI traffic. I'll need to start rebuilding that again, now I've switched to the Steam edition and a new computer :)
I'm looking forward to flying more, though don't know if I'm quite up for live ATC yet. Hopefully soon :)
