I had an iPhone 4 and used to develop apps. I know it stores GPS data unless someone explicitly turned off the feature, which is rare. Then again, I never saw anyone turn on the sim-pin, that’s an overkill and annoying. Maybe they got an unexpected roaming charge bill and decided to turn it on However, if the professionals retrieved activity data like wrong pin, number of swipes etc., they must have checked this as well. GPS does not require cell/internet/wifi but will be off in airplane mode
I think there are more photos that are not released I don't think all the night photos were from the 8th – that just doesn’t fit It's possible they took photos every night and deleted them to make room on the memory card (flash requires taking photos). There might even be another memory card and does the camera have any internal storage?
The person taking the night photos (most likely L) was holding the camera on their chest point up and just clicking (while lying down). This explains the chin/jawbone. Occasionally leaning forward and clicking
Someone mentioned they were circling around that time (guide?)
Photo 509 Slipped and fell while taking the picture, camera hits the ground/rocks, memory card dislodges temporarily/completely corrupting the data. Its also possible they lost the memory card/battery (found later) or the camera was damaged temporarily. The battery can also come off when dropped.
Samsung battery ran out pretty early on April 4th, 05:00 AM. The iPhone is locked from April 5th morning. K's in-capacitance was unexpected as she didn't give the pin number, but they were not separated as L had K's phone. It was too early to leave last messages.
Some reports said data was professionally recovered. It's possible there was damage and the retrieval process messed up the EXIF data. The camera drop might have also shifted the date - so it may not be from day 8.
I recovered data from a damaged harddrive recently and it was a huge pain. Not files were recovered – some partial, some not at all. Some file names were generated by the recovery software.
I strongly believe there are more pictures not released in the leaks and other details in the actual case file - which we don't have access to There might even be more pics in both the phones
The 'final' Dutch team said they found the locations for night pictures/ravine - there might be details in the case file The case file might also contain the data dump from the phones which can provide clues So, unless we find new evidence, get access to the case file or original photos to see the EXIF, it's difficult to move forward and will keep going in circles

Looking for help to save my wedding video files!
[TLDR: Nitwit Noob looks to access wedding MP4 files and can't]
I am at a loss and unsure even what to google to fix my problem. I have had a scandisk flash drive in my desk drawer for almost a year and a half. It holds my very expensive, wedding video files. But, it was one of those, had a lot going on, put it in my drawer to put it on my computer at a later date, never thought of it ordeals.
Now, however, I have tried on my personal mac and work PC to open the drive and open my files, and nothing will open the "MPEG-4" (tried QuickTime, Windows Media Player, iMovie, Final Video Player, VLC, and Free MP4 Converter). All of them say "failed to load", "cannot open" or something similar. The footage reads 0:00:00 but on the drive itself, lists each file as 24 bytes.
I've reached out to my vendor to see if she can help at all, but with it being almost two years later, I am unsure if anything can be done (haven't yet heard back). My mom was able to send my Grandmother's wedding footage on 44mm film (I think that's what it was called, I am clearly NOT the video nerd) from 1948 to be restored, I would PRAY that in 2020 something can be done for me to get these files working. Hoping the good grace of reddit can assist me in my struggles!
Any assistance is so greatly appreciated! I found this sub on a complete whim and in a complete panic so please forgive me if I did not post this correctly.
Thank you in advance!
