My theory is scientology is a culmination of psychology, Thelema, Gnosticism and other occult practices given in “levels”. If one were advance to quickly it could lead to failure, similar to how jumping into magick, kundalini and other occult practices hastily could lead into premature spiritual awakenings leading to insanity. These levels are unlocked by buying more sessions. Thelema is all about taking control of ones soul and destiny.
Practitioners of Scientology strive to reach a state of clear where no engrams affect the thetan or spiritual body of the person leading to aberrations or departure from rational thought or behavior. Engrams could be seen as a stimulus impression; a memory (whether formed while conscious or unconsious) influences the mind. It mirrors abreation abreaction therapy found within psychology. Body Thetans are demons or entities attached to the etheric body causing energy blockages.
Dianetics and scientology can be delineated as such: Dianetics is more about the mind while scientology has more to do with the soul. In my opinion, spirit and mind are two sides of the same coin the brain is controlled by the spirit. I've been into occult practices for many years.. Staring routines and other practices within scientology can invoke hallucinations, out of body experiences and hypnotic states also found within occult practices. Exteriorization found within scientology is astral projection. I’ve also found in scientology the ability to see past lives which is common in the occult and eastern philosophies known as the akashic records.
Dianetics explains that standard psychiatry treats people like animals throwing broad labels on people experiencing mental illnesses. As it was written in the 50’s it touches on lobotomies and electroshock. It should be noted nowadays psychotropics like antipsychotics are chemical lobotomies, chemicals that destroy the vital connections to the pre-frontal cortex. We can clearly see a parabolic increase in mental health problems stemming from biopsychiatry. The human brain is still not fully understood and still no proof of chemical imbalances being the issues behind psychiatric ills.
Quotes from Dianetics:
“There are organic insanities. Iatrogenic psychoses (caused by doctors) are equivocal in dianetics, for a part of the machinery may have been wrecked. Nevertheless, with many organic psychoses a case can be improved by dianetics even if an optimum cannot be reached. And so all an auditor can do is try. Insanities caused by missing parts of the nervous system have not been extensively investigated by auditors at this time: the reviving of corpses is not the end of dianetics: the bringing about an optimum mind in the normal or merely neurotic person has had the main emphasis. Dianetics can be otherwise used, is being and will be. But with so many potentially valuable people who can be made highly valuable to themselves and society, emphasis has been placed on inorganic aberrations and organic psycho-somatic illnesses. Cases which have been subjected to pre-frontal lobotomy (which saws a section out of the analytical mind), the topectomy (which removes pieces of brain somewhat as an apple corer cores apples), the trans-orbital leukotomy which, while the patient is being electrically shocked, thrusts an ordinary dime store ice-pick into each eye and reaches up to rip the analyzer apart), and electric shock “therapy” which sears the brain with 110 volts, as well as insulin shock and other treatments, are considered by dianetics to be equivocal. There are ordinary organic insanities such as paresis, but most of these, even so, can be benefited by dianetics.”
A held down 7 as hubbard explains in dianetics is a being who is limited by engrams. This could be related to chapter seven of magick without tears by aleister crowley which he describes a sorcerer being restricted. This could also relate to the 7 chakra system and blockages that lie therein.
AC from chapter XII from Magick Without Tears:
“The about-to-be-Black Brother constantly restricts himself; he is satisfied with a very limited ideal; he is afraid of losing his individuality.”
The purification rundown is a term found within scientology which uses high doses of vitamins (mainly niacin up to 5,000mg) combined with exercise followed up with long sauna sessions. It postulates that niacin is distributed quickly throughout the body while jogging then is sweat out during saunas. Physical purification is a core piece of advancing spiritual awakenings. Any truth behind the high niacin doses and other stuff?
I think it is a more structured and authoritative practice of Magick and actually works in terms of opening ones spiritual potential. Although Hubbard has exaggerated the abilities you gain when advancing up the levels to make more money. I have read from other’s experiences the church has slowly devolved into a destructive cult although the teachings yield true benefits. My interest is in free zone scientology or practicing it outside of the clutches of the church.
Quotes from hubbard:
“Our whole activity tends to make an individual completely independent of any type of limitation…. Old Aleister Crowley had some interesting things to say about this. He wrote the ‘Book of the Law’.”
“Whatever you want to get rid of or change, it is possible with Dianetics and Scientology!”
Thelema and scientology draw clear parallels right down to the rose cross symbol found within the OTO and Scientology. In thelema when one was has control of true will you can have full magickal potential. It can accelerate you’re entire life and career. Hubbard had run in’s with Jack Parsons and Aleister Crowley, avid occultists and practitioners of thelema. Hubbard even participated in the Babalon Working with parsons.
Still new to scientology and always willing to learn, what do you guys think? Is this essentially occult knowledge used for profiting? And is there anyway to get deep into it without going to churches and seeking freezone scientology practices? Feel free to share any feedback or information I can check out. Stay safe and well everyone :)
The chaser effect is a PMO or MO binge you go on when you orgasm after a while on nofap. This is commonly done after a relapse but not limited to it. It can also happen when you engage in sex and fall into a desire to receive more pleasure and gratification.
If you fall down the rabbit hole then you’ll keep orgasming until you are physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted.
People fall into the trap where they feel as if it is now okay to binge since they have already relapsed. But this is not okay and is just re-enforcing a negative behaviour.
DO NOT reinforce negative behaviours.
But, the chaser effect goes beyond NoFap and it’s practices since it is a characteristic of many compulsive addiction and disorders.
The chaser effect can present itself in any compulsive disorder you can think of, such as the alcoholic going on a bender after a relapse or the cocaine addict just wanting a small minute hit after going months without one. But once he or she gets a taste then it is over, they are back to full addict mode.
Since an addict is always an addict, if they are clean only because they are staying away from their vice(s).
The junk-food addict on a diet can go on a binge-eating journey after eating just a burger.
There has never been any concrete scientific research done on the “chaser effect.”
HOW TO AVOID THE CHASER EFFECT: Have a relapse plan such as:
- Taking a pee
- Taking a cold shower
- Stop counting days
- Being active
- Trying meditation and yoga
- Listening to music
- Limiting your social media intake
- Getting motivated by music and inspirational videos
- Joining like minded communities
- Talking about it to friends and family
1. GO AND TAKE A PEE:
There’s something about a bladder full of liquid that gets many men and women aroused. The next time you feel the itch coming on, try going to the bathroom and relieving yourself of any fluid that may be stored away. 2. TAKE A COLD SHOWER:
Cold showers have many health benefits. Water therapy aka hydro-therapy has been used for centuries to take advantage of our body’s tendency to adapt to harsher conditions. And it can help you focus on other things rather than jacking off. If you are teetering at the edge of your NoFap journey then try a cold shower to help you escape from relapsing. Furthermore, cold showers can provide incredible benefits to the body and mind as well. Here are some benefits of cold showers:
3. STOP COUNTING DAYS:
- Increases willpower
- Reduces stress levels
- Increases endorphins
- Helps improve metabolism
- Improves circulation
- Higher level of alertness
- Helps fight off common illnesses
Why should you stop counting days? Let me ask you something. Why do you count the days in the first place? What difference does it make, if you really quit? You didn’t quit, you just count the days until your next “relapse” (aka excuse) so you can say how many days you got to.
Let me put it to you this way. If you are not a smoker, you never smoked before and have no intention of smoking, you wouldn’t count the days you didn’t smoke. Why would you, it doesn’t make sense! If you quit PMO, it’s because your values changed. What I mean is YOU changed. The habit just went with it, so you don’t need to count. You are simply not focused on PMO anymore and you are thinking about other things in life. 4. BE ACTIVE, ATHLETIC AND PLAY SOME SPORTS:
Go ahead and work out, be active, go to the gym, lift weights, run, jog and hike. Play some sports such as basketball, baseball, football, soccer or even swim. DO whatever it takes to distract your mind from PMO. In fact, playing sports and being active makes you physically and mentally strong which helps you stay focused on not relapsing – plus it improves your mood. 5. TRY MEDITATION AND YOGA:
Yoga and meditation when practiced together reinforce the connection between mind and body, improving mainly health and well-being. There are several styles of yoga that merge meditation with the physical routines, which use controlled breathing throughout the poses of yoga. By simply unwinding, clearing the mind and concentrating on controlled breathing, one can meditate without practicing yoga as well. Both yoga and meditation have proven health benefits when practiced regularly.
Here are some of the significant benefits of yoga and meditation:
6. LISTEN TO MUSIC:
- Manage stress and anxiety
- Fitness and flexibility
- Emotional well-being
- Fight diabetes
- Improved health and better diet
It has been proven that music dramatically helps improve people’s mental well-being and boost physical health. For example, music lessons can help raise our IQs and keep our minds sharper, particularly as we get older. Music can change our mood – listening to particularly sad or happy music can even change the way we see the world. Music and mood are closely interrelated – listening to a sad or happy song on the television or radio can make you feel more sad or happy. When you are on NoFap try listening to uplifting, happy and positive music so that it reinforces your behavior to not relapse.
The benefits of listening to music:
7. LIMIT YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERIENCE(S):
- Increases Happiness.
- Improves Performance in Running.
- Decreases Stress While Increasing Overall Health.
- Improves Sleep.
- Reduces Depression.
- Helps You Eat Less.
- Elevates Your Mood While Driving.
- Strengthens Learning And Memory.
Don’t feel like a zombie scrolling through mindless drama. Every time I open Instagram or Twitter. I just get reminded how addicted as a society we are to instant gratification and quick fix dopamine hits.
If you feel miserable seeing your ex-girlfriends posting with other guys, going on their rich vacations to the Caribbean and Europe and so on. Either that, or feeling melancholic over your crushes and seeing them post stuff with dozens of other people (seemingly) having incredibly interesting lives while you feel like shit. Or seeing these constant posts of other guys getting tons of likes, even more so from other girls you liked or other stuff and wondering why people don’t like you the same way. Sometimes wondering if you’re inadequate. Constantly comparing yourself, your circumstances and upbringings to those of others. Then it is time to limit or better yet shut down/off/out social media.
Just limit or better yet, turn off social media because it adds temptation/ triggers, that could interfere with your goal, which is NoFap. 8. GET MOTIVATED BY QUOTES OR VIDEOS:
Getting motivated can provide you the strength to fight and achieve something in your life. Reading motivational quotes helps you to take action and also helps to shift your focus on achieving something and not just fapping all the time. Furthermore, YouTube is filled with motivational videos that can help you not only get out of bed but be successful in your day to day life along with accomplishing your long-term goals. 9. JOIN A LIKE MINDED COMMUNITY:
There are sites like NoFap.com ManvsFap.com yourbrainonporn.com mrmindblowing.com which are all dedicated to helping you through your NoFap and PMO journey. Engage in these communities where you will see a lot of people discussing how they relapse, their success stories, the benefits of NoFap, and cautionary tales. 10. TALK ABOUT IT TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY:
It can be awkward but sometimes talking about your troubles is the best thing you can do with family and friends. In fact, isn’t that what friends are for? It is even better if they are on the same journey as you are and can share tips and tricks. However, several studies are indicative of the chaser effect.
OTHER THINGS THAT CAN HELP YOU WITH THE CHASER EFFECT ARE: A. BEING AWARE OF THE CHASER EFFECT:
Be aware of the pitfalls that the chaser effect can have so you are better able and prepared to avoid them. The chaser effect can be rapid or even gradual and progressive. Some people feel the effect immediately while others feel surge of the effect the next day. The best thing to do is learn what type of chaser you are so that you are better able to deal with it’s effects and repercussions. B. KNOW HOW YOUR BRAIN WORKS AND MOVE ENERGY:
Anything you’ll experience as a result of the chaser effect will be orchestrated in the limbic region of your brain. The part of the brain that can override this limbic system is known as the prefrontal cortex. When the prefrontal cortex is fully operational, the limbic system is non-active, and vice versa. Thus, when the huge cravings arise, try willpower exercises to quickly get your prefrontal cortex in control. Furthermore, try and redirect all that urge, energy and desire. Move that sexual energy to other places in your body – you can do this through sexual transmutation exercises, mindfulness as well as chakra meditation. C. UNDERSTAND AND OUTGROW THE PROBLEM:
I had a gambling problem in my life that I had to outgrow. I did this through understanding that I have a problem, seeing the negative effects it had on my life and realizing or being given other options. Many people get into addictions partly because of genetics, they have an affinity for risk taking or the use of drugs while others feel they just don’t have a choice. For example, some people feel that in order to make any money they have to gamble – but unfortunately that is a losing strategy and some people never recover from it.
