Greetings, for last couple of days I was dealing with some major issues with my Asus N53SN notebook. I am using a preinstalled windows 7 home premium x64.
After a failed update on wednesday I was stuck on this screen
One fellow in a another topic suggested to me this
method so I gave it a shot and followed the steps on the site. At the end of the process I was left with this
which looked very promising to me (here is the link so you dont have to type it manualy http://paste.ubuntu.com/19373925/
). Unfortunately after I rebooted my system I was left stuck on this
screen ever since. (if I press ctrl+alt+del nothing happens)
At first I wanted to try a repair install, even though I never done it before I tried it but it did not worked out very well so at this point I am seriously thinking about a clean reinstall but I need to somehow recover my files and data first.
I tried couple of things already but none of them seem to work. I made a bootable usb with win7 from an ISO i found here
since my notebook came with an already preinstalled windows 7 home premium x64 and therefore I dont have the installation disc. Then I tried to acces the command prompt and typed in ,,notepad,, so I could acces my data and copy them over into my external drive. I noticed couple of weird things, this
box under operating system was empty, I thought that there was supposed to be something like Windows 7 or something (is this normal?). And after when I was looking for my files I found the C:drive was appeared to be empty
(I dont know if this is standard aswell).
Then one gentleman suggested to me to try to boot from a USB with http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop
on it. So I tried that aswell. Most of the folders that were there I did not recognized and most of them were empty. Maybe I am stupid but I did not find any of my files there.
Here are some pictures I took when searching through on ubuntu:
I also tried this
method using fedora recovery that another user suggested to me. This
is how the partitions (or atleast I think their are called that) looked on my machine. After I edited the mount options on the 160 GB partition I went to check the files just like the fellow in the video but again I found only those weird folders like when I used ubuntu. Again here are some pictures I took:
So at this point I dont know what to do. Is there any way I could possible recover my files? I am open to any suggestions and I appreciate them greatly.
