So I just saw this post, and I feel guilty of it so let me share what I know/am planning before I go to sleep.

Tell us about the peoples and kingdoms in this world.

I'm intending to have some of the most famous factions of the real world existing in this world, all at the same time. The fictional ones as well. Here's some examples. Eg. ancient egyptians, samurai, knights, assassins, oriental warriors, sorcerers, tricksters, hunters, etc.
Besides these combat oriented factions, the majority of the population comprises of non-combat factions. Eg. farmers, smiths, craftsmen, merchants, monks/priests, artists, poets, philosophers, sages, etc. Also forums, the IRL kinds. If you have suggestions, do tell.
As a rule, however, I'm not including the factions that came after the invention of firearms. Cannons are still alright, but it kinda saddens me how a lot of famous factions with their rich histories were rendered near to useless when guns came into the picture.

The Technology?

Anything and everything before firearms. I'm thinking on an emphasis on sundials and tools that depend on celestial movement, to tie it in with lore and magic.

The Magic?

Four schools of magic! Sorcery, Soulcraft, Miracles and Hex.
The thing I tried to make special about it, is how flexible it is. From more classical examples like manipulating fire and enchanted arrows, to things such as an assassin moving in tandem with elemental familiars and ordinary footsoldiers being able to reinforce their shields with magic.
There's no real limit to what you can or can't learn, as long as you have the natural affinity and aptitude.
Sorcery Draws it's power from the universe and is hence, elemental in nature. The ability of the user is dependent on the 'oneness' of the practitioner with creation and their surroundings. Doesn't mean you can't do it if you're more in tune with destruction, but you're likely to have trouble with elaborate control. Willpower is also a simple factor in the strength of the art, be it basic or advanced.
Soulcraft Has its roots in, as the name implies, the soul and spiritual affinity. The magic of this manifests as reinforcing and/or adding properties to existing objects, as well as materializing simple objects to aid the user. There are also rare cases where the user is able to materialize an object unique to themselves, which is based on their personality and other undecided factors. Inspired by Bleach and Noblesse, I admit. :P Emotion is to Soulcraft, what Willpower is to the practice of Sorcery.
Miracles and Hex Schools that affliate themselves with the gods of the world, as well as personality. The practitioners need the blessing (and in some cases, the permission) of their gods to be able to even start practicing them (^{If you read Tower of God, think of the floor masters).} There ARE tests for aptitude, however. Practitioners of Miracles get a bonus of a 'clearer mind', while followers of Hex get a boost to 'charisma'. The powers associated with this school are currently undecided, but expect a HUGE range. Depends on which god they follow, after all. xD
While writing this, I realized I forgot about enchantments, will consider it since I may be able to put it within Soulcraft!

The Lore?

There's gonna be quite a few different gods. Some lesser, some wildly popular and some entirely forgotten. Also a primary focus on the number 3 and its multiples. Still working on this, but my idea of it, lemme just give an example:
You know how the Japanese have a god called Susanoo? God of seas and storms, and slayer of the eight-headed Yamato-no-Orochi? Who else was famous for slaying a many-headed dragon/serpent? I'm thinking Hercules. So what if Hercules and Susanoo is actually the same god, but appears differently to each culture? And its real form would be of something else.
Okay, if you like or didn't like it, it's JUST AN EXAMPLE. I basically want there to be gods that are interpreted very differently by each culture. I think it makes for potentially interesting crossroads and stories. Once again, if you have a better idea, just shoot!

Why are the continents split/placed this way?

Disclaimer: Despite the lake and mountain making this look like a bunch of islands, it's really a world map. I only put those things because it looked too incomplete to share without it.
I placed them this way considering sea travel. In a way, it's to isolate the major continents so that a character managing to reach a different continent is a rare and special occurence. Also, most of the factions are unaware of the island in the centre. The continent in the bottom left is intended to be populated with mostly pacifistic factions. This in no way means that they're incapable of combat, haha. The two continents to the right are considered as one, as of this stage of planning. I love trinities.
